LPC · Global perspective

Understand the world of cannabis—without confusing policy with permission.

A Canadian starting point for international cannabis research, medical-market rules and responsible industry understanding.

Different jurisdictions have different laws. International partnerships and trade announcements do not themselves grant cannabis licences, permits, or permission to sell across borders.

Start with what is established

Three important distinctions

Canadian export rules

Health Canada permits cannabis import/export only for medical or scientific purposes, subject to applicable requirements and an individual permit for each shipment. The destination country's import authority also matters.

Europe is not one cannabis market

EU-wide frameworks and national laws differ. Medical, scientific, industrial hemp and non-medical activities must not be treated as interchangeable.

International cooperation

Closer Canada–EU cooperation may create research and business conversations. It does not, by itself, change controlled-substance trade rules or certify a company for export.
