New Cannabis Drinks from Mainstream Company
Molson Partnership with Hexo “Truss Beverage Co.” Launches Five New Cannabis Drinks – LPC
Hexo and Molson Coors announced their launch of five new cannabis drinks. Their line-up, sold under the company name Truss Beverage Co. CBD and THC drinks include a sparkling water and a “health drink”.
“This well-rounded portfolio is designed to bring adult Canadians products that taste great and provide the consistent experience they need to enjoy responsibly,” said Truss president and CEO Scott Cooper.
Truss quoted their own market data, saying that the new cannabis drinks will appeal to Canadians because they are discreet, odourless, and have a consistent dose.
“This data shows just how ready Canadians are for a new cannabis experience that better fits their preferences and lifestyles,” said Lori Hatcher, the head of marketing at Truss.
Truss is the latest of a number of companies announcing new cannabis drinks. At one point, cannabis beverages were seen as the next frontier. Canopy Growth and Constellations Brands gambled a whole production plant on cannabis beverages. There was even a cannabis-infused beer. However, taste has been a major stumbling block. Non-soluble cannabis doesn’t mix well with water. Worse, it reacts with aluminum can linings, reducing potency over a very short period of time.
Canopy Growth and Constellations Brands started shipping its cannabis beverages in March. Currently it has two drinks in the Ontario Cannabis Store (OSC) under the Tweed brand. Truss is yet to have one listed with the OSC.
New cannabis drinks have had a rocky start to the market. Here’s hoping the market is able to get it right for consumers.
