Three More States Legalized Recreational Cannabis
Arizona, New Jersey, South Dakota Latest to Vote Yes, Though Federal Stance Still Murky – LPC
The US election may still be in doubt, but one thing we know is that three more states legalized recreational cannabis. Arizona, New Jersey, and South Dakota all voted “yes” in their respective referendums. Montana (recreational cannabis) and Mississippi (medical cannabis) are still tallying votes as of this writing.
“If Arizona can do it, the rest of the country is ready,” said Julie Gunnigle, Democratic candidate for Maricopa County attorney. There, the vote was called Proposition 207.
The full CNN report (please see link below) tends to quote those opposed, despite the wins.
Despite the fact these states legalized recreational cannabis, the future is still undecided at the federal level. Nobody is really sure how President Trump feels about cannabis. However, the reality is that he hasn’t done anything towards legalization beside legalize hemp.
Biden’s intentions are also not clear on the question of cannabis. Most believe though that full cannabis legalization in the US is more likely under Biden.
What is clear though is that as more states legalize recreational cannabis, the more likely the federal government will follow along.
