Cannabis Navigator Helps BC Get Legal

Program Aimed at Bringing Growers and Sellers in BC into the Legal Cannabis Market – LPC

The BC online cannabis navigator helps BC cannabis companies go legit. The BC government introduced an online cannabis navigator aimed at helping growers and sellers in the province transition to the legal cannabis market. Courtland Sandover-Sly, president of the BC Independent Cannabis Association, said he was “thrilled” about the new online guide.

“As a former consultant for cannabis start-ups, it comprises a lot of our initial conversations we would have with potential clients,” Sandover-Sly said in an interview with Black Press Media. (Please see link below.) “Very basic questions like, what is your zoning, what does the city say about cannabis, what does the regional district say about water usage, all these things.”

The BC cannabis navigator is a step-by-step guide that covers questions from all levels of government: federal, provincial, and municipal. Its purpose, according to the website, is to “plan and develop your cannabis production business, obtain the required licences from government agencies, and get your regulated and approved products to market.”

Some say that BC still has a thriving cannabis black market. It’s true that BC still has the lowest legal cannabis sales per capita in Canada. Alberta’s solution was to open as many legal cannabis retailers as possible. The people in BC who buy from illegal sources say that price, quality, and tradition (loyalty to an illegal seller) are the big reasons.

But the numbers show that BC is changing, and the legal cannabis market is becoming more accepted. This cannabis navigator to help businesses go legit is another step in the right direction.
