Manitoba Retail Cannabis Market Still Has Room to Grow
Even Months of “Aggressive Expansion” Won’t Saturate the Market, Says Delta 9 – LPC

The Manitoba retail cannabis market still has room to grow since opening up last June. Since then, 23 new stores opened with 33 more waiting for licence approval. There are now 56 cannabis retail stores in the province.
However, Delta 9 CEO John Arbuthnot said that the Manitoba retail cannabis market is far from saturated.
“I think there’s probably at least another six to 12 months of aggressive expansion for the market before we start to see an environment similar to Alberta,” Arbuthnot said.
There are approximately 550 Alberta cannabis retailers – about the number experts predicted the province could sustain. They were by far the fastest to reach near-saturation. But the Manitoba retail cannabis market – much like Ontario’s cannabis store licences – has a long way to go.
According to Delta 9’s analysis, Manitoba could double to up to 120 cannabis stores before the market is saturated.
“There are still some question marks as to the overall market size, but I would say there’s still room for more retailers,” Arbuthnot said.
Not only does a growing Manitoba retail cannabis market give Manitobans more options, it also helps eliminate the illegal cannabis market.
