Ontario Cannabis 2.0 Sales Pass $19 Million
Ontarians Want More Edibles and Other Cannabis 2.0 Products – LPC
The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) reported that it sold $19.3 million in Ontario cannabis 2.0 sales in January to March 2020. This second wave of cannabis products includes vaping products, edibles, and topicals.
“Cannabis 2.0 products that launched into the market in Q4 sold very well,” stated an OCS report. “Similar to the launch of legalization, the offering from licensed producers was initially fairly narrow. The data demonstrates consumer enthusiasm, but it will likely take some time for identifiable trends to emerge.”
Vapes were by far the most popular item at $14.8 million or about 77 per cent of sales, in line with early numbers. Cannabis edibles accounted for $3.8 million. Cannabis beverages, long-touted by the industry reached only $410,000. Slow roll-out due to production delays and cannabis beverage challenges likely affected this most. Only $40,000 worth of topicals were sold during that same period.
Experts expect Ontario cannabis 2.0 sales to grow as more products become available. The growing number of Ontario retail cannabis stores will help as well.
