Gummies Production Starts at Edibles and Infusions
Winnipeg-Based Company “Happy” to Finally Launch Gummies Production – LPC

Two months after it was sold, Edibles and Infusions Corp. is set to begin gummies production this week. Cavalier Candies CEO James Fletcher, the brainchild behind Winnipeg-based Edibles and Infusions, said he’s glad gummies production will finally be starting.
“I’m happy we’re getting into production,” Fletcher said.
Fletcher originally started Edibles and Infusions with several partners including AgraFlora from BC. But Fletcher and those partners agreed to sell everything to OrganiGram Inc. for $22 million in stock plus $13 more in earned receivables in April 2021.
“OrganiGram have been fantastic partners,” Fletcher said. “Their team has helped out with everything I could ask for.
Once gummies production starts, Edibles and Infusions will be able to make 8,000 pieces of cannabis-infused soft chew gummies per hour. More equipment is on order from Germany that will be able to boost gummies production to 31,000 pieces per hour. That equipment is expected to be up and running by the end of the summer.
OrganiGram Embracing Cannabis 2.0 with Increased Gummies Production – LPC
For OrganiGram’s part, the purchase is a bet that Cannabis 2.0 will pay off – and Edibles and Infusions’ gummies production will be able to meet demand. Currently, dried flower “combustibles” make up about 70 per cent of the cannabis market. But most agree that Cannabis 2.0 products including edibles, vapes, cannabis beverages, and topicals will gain market share as more products become available.
“The future of cannabis is in derivative products like soft chews (gummies) and other forms of cannabis not related to combustion,” said Paolo De Luca, OrganiGram chief strategy officer. “Over time people who are shy about using cannabis or don’t want to smoke anything (will be more likely to try gummies). The derivatives product is going to be a big growth opportunity.”
For his part, Fletcher is confident the product will be tasty, too. Cavalier Candies has been in production for almost 100 years since 1922. He expects gummies production, both gelatin- and pectin-based, to be a success.
“Cannabis distillate is easier to work with than some other additives like vitamins that are very heat sensitive,” Fletcher said.
Edibles and Infusions will have the largest gummies production facility in the country at 51,000 square feet, and is projected to become the lowest-cost producer.
