Ontario Should Allow Cannabis Delivery and Curbside Pickup
Province Closes Cannabis Stores Amid COVID-19 Concerns – LPC
Ontario should allow cannabis delivery and curbside pickup. The province closed all cannabis stores across the province over the weekend amid COVID-19 concerns. Harrdware stores were also closed in the move. However, hardware stores have the option to offer delivery or curbside pickup – something cannabis stores can’t.
“(Cannabis delivery and curbside pickup) are options that most retailers in Ontario could handle,” said Cameron Brown, spokesperson for the The Hunny Pot.
Brown said that when Ontario closes cannabis stores, it strengthens black market cannabis.
“I go up to our store in the Junction and there is a sticker up saying text to get weed,” he said. “We are pushing people to unregulated product.”
The shutdowns occur just months after the province announced it was opening up the Ontario retail cannabis market.
Cannabis delivery and curbside pickup seem to be reasonable options during these uncertain times. That’s especially true when the Ford government allowed restaurants that deliver food to also delivery alcohol. A temporary allowance would help the fledgling cannabis industry weather this tough coronavirus storm.
