1771277 ALBERTA INC. received its Health Canada cultivation licence in December 2019. It is associated with Sweetgrass Inc. of Edmonton Alberta, which previously (and perhaps currently) has a distribution deal with Canopy Growth’s Tweed line of medical cannabis.
Facility: 115,000-square-foot operation using former warehouse.
Annual production: More than 25,000 kilograms.
Target market: Mainly medical, but will look at the recreational sector when it’s ready.
The company: Headquarters will be in the facility. Owners live in Edmonton area, including chief financial officer David Gamage.
The future: Sweetgrass will supply medical cannabis products online through Canopy Growth’s Tweed Main Street, which will also work to distribute recreational pot.
