BeeHighVE Cannabis Hits Stores
Newfoundland’s First LP Becomes Province’s First Local Grower to Sell, Too – LPC

BeeHigh Vital Elements or BeeHighVE cannabis hit stores in Newfoundland this week. The province’s first licensed producer (LP) is now the first local grower to sell, too. Company president Rita Hall said the deal comes none too soon.
“Financially, it’s critical for us to be at this point right now where we’re actually bringing money in, and able to keep people employed and be operational,” Hall said.
BeeHighVE received its cultivation licence in November 2018 – the first LP to receive a licence from Health Canada under the Cannabis Act. It extended that licence to include processing and medical sales in May 2020. The cannabis edibles market is her next target.
“I really want to add honey, and I want to expose Newfoundland’s healthy bees,” Hall said. “I can’t get there without this. You need the financial backing to move forward with big plans.”
As of this week, BeeHighVE cannabis is now available in St. John’s, Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s and Labrador City.
BeeHighVE is also unique in its ownership structure. Hall identifies herself in company press releases as Aboriginal, making Hall one of the three per cent of non-white, non-male executives in the Canadian cannabis industry. In 2017, Madawaska Maliseet First Nation in New Brunswick bought an ownership stake in the company.
Hall plans to have BeeHighVE cannabis in all Dominion’s C-Stores, the cannabis department of Dominion grocery stores in Newfoundland and Labrador.
